PowerPoint Presentation: FOUR (4) FEDERAL LAWS THAT PROTECT EMPLOYEES Our first assignment is to research Four (4) Federal laws that mandate equality, safety, and health in the workplace. Select the Federal laws from the list itemized below. The assignment is due in Unit Two – Information on the assignment is provided in U1 to give you students sufficient time to research the information. The PowerPoint presentation consists of a cover sheet, introduction, a minimum of four pages for each law, conclusion, and a list of References in APA format. Follow the instructions below very carefully. For each law, you need to include separate sheets/pages for the following four questions: 1. History/Background: Why was the Law passed? What was going on in the workplace that required the law to be enacted to protect employees? 2. Components of the law: Research the law and summarize in your words (with intext citations of the academic sources used) the major elements of the law. Do not cut and paste. 3. Observations on the law. Research the law’s effectiveness with academic data? Also, do you personally feel it is working or not working and why? 4. Lawsuit: Research a lawsuit that concerned the law you are reviewing. Include the date of the lawsuit, the plaintiffs, defendants, reason the plaintiff/s went to court, and the outcome of the case. It is important to show an understanding of why the lawsuit was initiated and the outcome. DIRECTIONS · The PowerPoint presentation must be concise and to the point with bullets with sufficient data especially in regards to the background, contents of the law and the court cases. This can be a very creative assignment, so use your imagination on the information included. Grading is based on the contents and flow of the presentation, not on your PowerPoint expertise.
