WHY HAVE
AN
INTERVIEW?
PL 2021-22
17
What’s the purpose of an interview?
To see if you match the requirements of the job:
o Your personal qualities
o How well you express yourself
o Your motivation and enthusiasm
There aren’t usually any right/wrong answers to interview
questions; instead, it is how you come across that is as
important as what you say. This is known as RAPPORT and we
will look at trying to build this later on.

INTERVIEW
PRESENTATIONS
PL 2021-22
It is common to be asked to do a presentation at interview.
This enables interviewers to see how you prepare, work
and present yourself. This is especially important if any kind
of presentation is part of the job you are applying for.
The presentation requires the same level of preparation as
the interview

during the past 8 weeks? What could you have

SMART GOALS
PL 2021-22
When setting a goal, be specific about what you want
to accomplish.
Is the following goal specific?
I want to improve my performance
How can we make it specific? Discuss with a partner.
49
I received low marks on my ability to use PowerPoint in my last
assignment. To improve my skills, I need to learn how to use
PowerPoint efficiently and practice using it by creating various
presentations. I’d like to be more proficient using PowerPoint in time
for my next presentation in two months

SMART GOALS
PL 2021-22
I want to improve my performance
How can we make it measurable?
50
By the time of my next review, I should be
able to create presentations that incorporate
graphs, images, and other media in a couple
of hours. I should also be able to efficiently
use and create templates in PowerPoint that
other students/ colleagues can also use
.
SMART GOALS
PL 2021-22 51
I want to improve my performance
How can we make it achievable?
Improving my PowerPoint skills is instrumental in
moving forward in my academic life and career and
receiving better grades/performance review. I can
set time aside every week to watch PowerPoint
tutorials and even enrol in an online class that can
teach me new skills. I can also ask fellow
students/colleagues and my manager for
PowerPoint tips.

SMART GOALS
PL 2021-22 52
I want to improve my performance
How can we make it relevant?
Working with PowerPoint is currently 25% of my
assignment marks. As I progress at university, I’ll
need to spend more of my time creating PowerPoint
presentations alone or in groups. I will also have to
do this after I graduate. I want to do well at
university and develop the presentations skills for
my future career working in business.

SMART GOALS
PL 2021-22 53
I want to improve my performance
How can we make it time-bound?
In six months, I should be proficient in
PowerPoint ensuring it only occupies 25% of my
workload instead of the nearly 40% of the time
it occupies now.

S.M.A.R.T

Once you go through

according to each
S.M.A.R.T. characteristic,
you can then combine and
consolidate all the work
you’ve done into one
