TASK C: TECHNIQUES TO MANAGE TEAM HEALTH AND WELLBEING
CASE SCENARIO: MATRIX HOMES
A building and construction company called Matrix Homes is a medium sized business
with 92 workers. The workforce comprises 70 per cent blue collar labourers and
tradesmen and 30 per cent white collar professionals and administration staff.
Consultation with management identified that a key priority was to:
– address the rising rates of unscheduled work absences
– address the rising rates of injury claims associated with physical disorders.
An audit of the work environment found that while Matrix Homes had a system for
managing the risk of hazardous manual tasks, there were no supportive policies or
facilities in place that sought to improve the health and wellbeing of workers which could
assist in proactively preventing injuries and reducing the amount of work absences by their
employees.
With an overarching long-term goal to decrease absenteeism and increase productivity,
the health and safety committee decided to get the advice of a WHS Consultant on
identifying techniques to manage team health and wellbeing in the workplace.
You are to act as the WHS Consultant and complete the table below identifying strategies
to assist Matrix Homes with their health and wellbeing issues.
