Requirements:
Extensions and deferred assessment
In all courses and for all items of assessment (other than exams in the
exam period), students may apply for an extension of up to 7 days.
Students are now again required to submit documentation to
support any application for an extension.
Students should normally apply for an extension (or deferral) before the
due date.
If the application is for eight or more days, then it will be assessed under
the Assessment of Special Circumstances Procedure (and will be harder
to obtain).
If the documentation supports a concession of more than 7 days, then it
is treated as deferred assessment.
Late penalties
A penalty of five per cent of the available marks for each calendar
day
late after the specified submission date.
An assignment submitted more than seven days after the specified
submission date is given zero marks, unless it is under an extension or
deferral.
An assignment under an extension or deferral is awarded zero marks if
submitted after the extended or deferred date (even just one day).
Other General Requirements
Email submission will NOT be accepted under any circumstances.
Each assignment should be packaged as one single PDF file and then submitted
via the link provided through the course study desk
All assessment items are individual submissions
You are encouraged to discuss the assignment requirements with others to
improve your understanding and to clarify requirements, but you should develop
the solutions to the assessment items on your own.
The analysis should be in the context of the selected organization in the industry
mentioned below. You are expected to select an organization in the industry
mentioned below to demonstrate the requirements of this assignment.
You are expected to write a thoroughly researched/analyzed critical business
report for assignments 1 & 2.
You are required to thoroughly research your work and provide citations and
references for all information used as per the USQ Referencing guidelines (Harvard
referencing format is the acceptable standard)

You assume the responsibility to ensure the report you are producing is of high
quality, including plagiarism and collision checks. You do NOT need to produce a
plagiarism report with the assignment. However, the markers will undertake these
checks (using any tools that you have access to), and if any integrity issues are
found you will be awarded a score of zero and the work will constitute ‘Academic
Misconduct’.
The assignment submission website will be closed after five working days so that
the assignments can be distributed to markers.

The objective of this assignment is to assess your understanding of ICT project management
concepts and your proficiency in using various ICT project management skills. In particular, the
assignment focuses on the following project management knowledge areas in the PMBOK:

Project integration management,

Assignment Scenario:
Congratulations! You have just been hired as the Information Technology Project Manager of a successful
Taxi company. The company has become increasingly worried about competition from rideshare
companies such as Uber. The CEO has requested that you develop an app similar to the rideshare apps that
have been so disruptive to the Taxi industry in recent years.
So far, the company is mainly operating on a web platform, with a call centre model to meet client needs.
However, after careful deliberations, the board felt that a smartphone-based application through the Cloud
technology infrastructure, using a GPS interface is crucial to compete in the competitive taxi transport
industry. This has prompted the management to carefully review their IT strategies, workforce capability
and capacity, IT infrastructure etc so that they can offer a seamless service.
The CEO has made you responsible to provide documentation along with a management report
highlighting the smartphone-based app working through the Cloud-base technology to meet the
organisational needs. In order to produce this report, the CEO expects you to undertake independent
research to present a high-quality report that covers various IT project planning elements, as described in
the course.
You are required to research the background for a project to implement and manage a smartphone-based
client management system through Cloud-based technology (the app). You will consider the current
organisational aspect and then recommend a way forward as to how this can be accomplished, through a
management report by concentrating the project planning documents, to the CEO.
As this domain is new to the CEO, he is not able to provide too many details and expects you to conduct
whatever research is required in arriving at the report.
Your task is to develop a professional business report for the CEO. In the business report, you are
expected to provide a complete Part A of the Detailed Project Plan to provide an initial idea, scope,
cost, and other planning aspects related to project management for this project. After which you
will be required to produce Part B of the Detailed Project Plan to deliver a complete Project Plan

for the implementation of the smartphone-based rider app using cloud-based technology. Your
Part A of the Detailed Project Plan and then the Part B of the Detailed Project Plan submissions
should address all questions outlined in the assignment requirements (for Assignment 1 and 2).

Assignment 1 Description
Detailed Project Plan – (PM Planning) – (marked out of 100)
In the Detailed Project Plan – Part A, you must at least address each of the following
requirements adequately:
1.
Project Background Information (two pages maximum) – background
information about the Taxi service needs to be provided. For this project:
i. Make necessary assumptions with justifications about the taxi company to
ensure the
implementing/integrating the Cloud-base technology solution selected by
you can be effectively integrated into the company initially.
ii. Provide an outline of the objectives/goals of adopting and
implementing/integrating the Cloud-base technology solution, including
justifications, that will assist the taxi company in achieving its strategic goals
and its digital transformation strategy to help them effectively compete with
the current rideshare companies.
iii. Outline the
implementing/integrating the Cloud-base technology solution for the
project and provide justifications to achieve the objectives mentioned above.
iv. Provide a summary of the existing ICT capability of the organization and the
necessary enhancements needed to expand its ICT unit to incorporate the
implementing/integrating the Cloud-base technology.
2.
Project Charter (two pages maximum) – a project charter is an important
document for project management and commencing a project as it formally
recognizes the project exists. For this project:
i. Briefly outline the importance of a project charter.
ii. Create a project charter template for this project. Ensure the project charter
includes:
a. An overview of the key activities involved in the project management
process groups for this project (these are: initiating, planning, executing,
monitoring, and controlling, and closing processes).
iii. Populate the project charter with relevant information for this project.
3.
Project Team (two pages maximum) – ensuring a project has the right team
members is critical for project success. For this project:
i. Briefly explain the importance of selecting the right team members (with
justifications).
ii. Outline the team members required for this project and if they are internal or
external (contractors, consultants, vendors) and provide justifications.
iii. Create a RACI and include team members identified for the project. Outline key
activities and populate the RACI for each team member.

iv. Briefly outline important aspects related to team management, such as diversity
and rewards, for the successful implementation of the
implementing/integrating the
Cloud-base technology solution.
4.
Social and ethical Considerations (one page maximum) – various social and
ethical issues are potentially likely to arise in any project. Provide an overview
of the key considerations that management and the project team need to be
aware of when
implementing/integrating the Cloud-base technology solution in the
organization. For this project:
i. Briefly explain the impact of any social and ethical issues.
ii. Identify key considerations for this project, including those related tothe use
of the technology itself, project management and people involved with the
system.
iii. Briefly outline what the impact would be if any of those considerations were
to arise.
5.
Project Integration Management (400 words only) – provide a set of
recommendations as to how project integration will be managed. For this
project:
i. Create a high-level project description, achievable, and management plan,
bearing in mind the documents requested in this section needs to be
presented to external and internal stakeholders. You must fully
demonstrate your skills in presenting a project to the board of directors
(two-pages maximum).
6.
Scope Management (two pages maximum) – the management of scope is
important as it has the potential to impact the project cost. For this project:
i. Explain the importance of ensuring good scope management for projects (with
justifications).
ii. Create a Scope Management Plan for this project. This should include the Change
Request process to be used and a Change Request form template.
iii. You must create a Change Request form template and include it in the relevant
section of the scope management plan.
7.
Schedule Management (three pages maximum) – schedule management is
important for ensuring. projects are delivered within desired timeframes,
otherwise, there are cost implications. For this project:
i. Briefly explain the importance of schedule management for the project, with
justifications.
ii. Identify key project milestones and dates for this project
.
iii. Provide a complete list of activities for the project and populate these into a
GANTT chart. Ensure you include the key milestones, dependencies, and
slack time. This should indicate how long it will take to deploy the
implementing/integrating the Cloud-base technology solution. Briefly explain the
GANTT chart for non-technical board members.
iv. Create a critical analysis of deliverables for the project. Briefly explain the

visual chart and technical aspects of the project for non-technical board
members.
v. Explain how the schedule will be controlled for the project and provide
justifications.
8.
Cost Management (three pages maximum) – project success requires
effective management of costs. For this project:
i. Explain the importance of cost management for the project, with
justifications.
ii. Explain how costs will be managed, including justifications.
iii. Create a Cost Management Plan to ensure costs are managed effectively.
iv. Provide a complete cost-benefit analysis, outlining the benefits and costs in some
detail. Provide justifications for the costs and benefits. Ensure a brief
interpretation of the key findings is provided for non-technical board members.
Note – for the purposes of this project please assume the following budget details
Total budget is $2,000,000
Salaries per day
– assume a typical salary of $400 per day for managers and $200 per day
for technical people and $150 for admin people
9. Recommendations and Conclusion (half a page maximum) – provide a
Recommendation section highlighting the key recommendations from the detailed
project plan Part A and a separate section for the Conclusion, which outlines the key
findings of the report with supporting arguments.

Assignment 2 Description
Detailed Project (PM Written Report) – (marked out of 100) Due Dates: Refer to the
course website
The objective of this assignment is to assess your understanding of ICT project management
concepts and your proficiency in using various ICT project management skills. In particular, the
assignment focuses on the following project management knowledge areas in the PMBOK:
Project quality management,
Project HR management,
Project communication management,
Project risk management
Project procurement management
Project stakeholder management
In the Detailed Project Plan, you must at least address each of the following requirements
adequately:
1. Background (250 words only) – to provide synthesis analysis for the detailed
project plan provide an overview of the initial project plan (from Assignment 1),
briefly including the following: (one-page maximum).
i. A brief overview of the organization and the
implementing/integrating the
Cloud-base technology solution being implemented.
ii. In addition, provide a summary of the key findings and
recommendations
from the Initial Project Plan, including the managementof the project.
iii. Outline the key project milestones and dates identified.
2.
Project Sponsor Briefing (250 words only) – provide critical analysis for the
sponsor of the project. This section includes an overview of the key activities/
deliverables involved in the project management process groups for this
project from the project sponsor perspective (two-pages maximum).
3.
Project Selection (400 words only) – having a transparent and fair
vendor/supplier selection process is extremely critical for the success of your
project. For this project:
i. Developing a selection process, and discussing key requirements and their
justification
ii. Create a project selection template using a weighted scoring model. Ensure the
criteria used in the project selection template includes the Net Present Value and
Return on Investment.
iii. Provide justifications for inclusion of the criteria used in the project selection
template and the weightings that have been assigned for each.
iv. Complete an assessment of the selected
implementing/integrating the Cloudbase technology solution using the template created.
v. Provide a summary of the assessment and how well the selected
implementing/integrating the Cloud-base technology solution meets the project
selection criteria (two-pages maximum).

4. Quality Management (500 words only) – ensuring the quality of the project is
vital and often impacts the acceptance of the project by stakeholders.
Therefore, it is important to ensure quality is managed well for this project. For
this detailed project plan, including the following
critical aspects of quality
management
:
i. Create a quality management plan. This should include key quality metrics
(which were identified in Assignment 1) and a brief explanation of each
metric.
ii. In the quality management plan, ensure it outlines at a high level:
a. How quality will be managed. Include an overview of testing to be
undertaken and quality reports that may be produced.
b. How quality will be controlled. This includes selecting a tool/technique
for quality control, providing justification for using this tool/technique
and an overview of how it can help improve quality and quality control
for this project (three-pages maximum).
c. Explain key metrics to be used to measure quality.
5.
Human Resource Management (500 words only) For the success of any
project people play a critical role and are considered an important asset. This
requireseffective people management as people determine the success and
failure of an organization and projects. For this project
i. Create an HR management plan to ensure how all the direct and indirect
peopleare managed effectively to ensure success and minimum disruption.
ii. Outline the plan and processes with the justification of how the
project team will beacquired.
iii. Outline the plan and processes of how an effective project team will be
developed.
iv. Outline the plan and processes of how the project team will be managed
throughout the life of the project.
6.
Communication Management (600 words only) – keeping stakeholders
informed is an important aspect of project management. This requires
effective
communication management
. For this project:
v. Create a communication management plan that considers how the project
manager and project team will communicate project information to key
stakeholders identified.
vi. For each stakeholder identified (in Q5 above), outline the most appropriate
format to provide project updates (i.e., meetings, status update reports) and
the frequency of communication.
vii. For each plan, outline advantages and disadvantages.
viii. Discuss the importance of addressing individual communication needs, and
the number of communications channels in a project.
ix. Create a Project Status Report template for this project and include it in. the.
communication management plan (three-pages maximum).
7.
Risk Management (500 words only) – all projects have risks associated
withthem. For the success of any project, it is critical to managing them
minimize the effect of risk. For this project:
i. Provide a brief overview of how risks will be managed, with justifications.

ii. Identify the key risks (at least 6 risks) and include these in a Risk Register.
iii. For each risk, complete a risk assessment and identify the likelihood of
occurrence and the impact of each risk were to occur and identify the overall
risk rating/category for each risk.
iv. Include this information into the Risk Register and present the risk
assessment in a risk assessment matrix.
v. For each risk identified, create a high-level risk management strategy, which
should be included in the Risk Register. Ensure justification is provided for
the risks identified (three-pages maximum).
8.
Procurement Management (600 words only) – purchasing the Cloud-base
technology
solution represents a significant cost for the company. Therefore,
it is important to ensure that appropriate procurement management practices
are followed. For this project:
i. Outline the importance of procurement management and what is involved in
effectively managing the procurement management process (with
justifications).
ii. Create a Statement of Work to procure an
implementing/integrating the Cloudbase technology solution that would be provided to a vendor/supplier and used
as a basis to create a quote for the work required.
iii. Create a template for a Request for Proposal (RFP). In this document, ensure
a section is included outlining the type of contract that will be used (provide
justifications for this).
iv. This document should also include the Selection Criteria template against
which Suppliers/Vendors of Cloud-based
technology solutions would be
assessed. You are required to create this template. Provide a brief overview
of the selection criteria used, including justifications for the criteria that have
been included in the template.
9.
Stakeholder Management (500 words only) – effectively managing
stakeholders and their expectations
can have a big impact on the outcome of a
project. Therefore, it is important to ensure effective stakeholder management.
For this project:
i. Identify the key stakeholders for the project.
ii. Create a detailed Stakeholder Register and update it with the key stakeholders
identified and outline the expectations of each stakeholder.
iii. Create a Power/Interest Grid and identify the Power and Interest of each
stakeholder and map them into the grid.
iv. Update the stakeholder register with the Power/Interest category.
v. Complete a Stakeholder Analysis to identify the engagement approach for
each stakeholder and a recommended stakeholder management approach.
vi. Update this information into the Stakeholder Register (three-pages
maximum).
10.
Recommendations and Conclusion (250 words only) – provide a Recommendation
section highlighting the key recommendations from the detailed project plan and a
separate section for the Conclusion, which outlines the key findings of the report with
supporting arguments.

Marks can be deducted for the following errors:
1. Problems with the format and structure of the report.
2. Lack of referencing (Harvard referencing format is the acceptable standard).
3. Spelling, grammar, and expression errors.
4. Indication of plagiarism/collusion.
5. Inappropriate use of in-text references.
6. Late submission penalty will apply as per the USQ/BELA policies and procedures.
7. Late Submission as per USQ/BELA policies and procedures (these override any other
available information).

An Assignment submitted more than ten University Business Days after the
deadline will have a mark of zero recorded for that Assignment. The assignments

and their due dates are listed in the study schedule to give you some forewarning
so that you may organize your study program.
8. For this assignment, you MUST use a plagiarism detection application to ensure that
your work is plagiarism-free. Please note that TURNITIN can take time to generate the
report, and you are advised to submit your assignment through TURNITIN or any other
application well in advance to avoid last-minute delays (
you are not required to
submit a plagiarism report).
9. Normally, it is hard to put the percentage number correctly on the TURNITIN report as
it all depends on the actual report contents produced by the TURNITIN application or
any other application. As a general rule, less than 10% is acceptable.
10.A review of any assessment item is only possible if the request is received within 5
days of the release of the marks of the assessment item. After this, no review requests
will be accepted.
11.You have the freedom to use any business report-writing format of your choice, as long
as the report is a professional business report and presentable.
1. Formatting Requirements:
o Acceptable Assignment Formats: – RTF document .rtf, at least Word
2007 or above document .docx, Word document
o Margins: – Minimum 2 cm, maximum 2.5 cm all around.
o Font: – Times New Roman, sizes are 11 for the text and 13 for headings.
o Standard formatting requirements (A4 page, Single space, and 11 font size) for
the business report

convention (if you do not follow this you will lose marks):

o For example, the first assignment for CIS8004 was submitted by Joe Bloggs,
