Instructions:

This Capstone Assignment consists of TWO (2) sections, Sections A and B.

Section A consists of SEVEN (7) short answer questions worth 10 marks each of which students must answer any FOUR (4) questions. Each question in Section A is worth 10 marks for a total of 40 marks.

Section B consists of THREE (3) journal article questions worth 10 marks each, of which students must answer ONE (1) question. Section B is worth a total of 10 marks.

This Capstone Assignment counts 50 per cent of the for this unit.

SECTION ASHORT ANSWER QUESTIONS (40 marks)

Students must answer any FOUR (4) short-answer questions from the following SEVEN (7) questions. Each question is worth 10 marks for a total of 40 marks.

Question 1

What is an ‘organisation’ and why are managers important to an organisation’s success? Use an example from a news story published online in 2022 to illustrate your answer. [10 marks]

Question 2

Identify and define the steps in the rational decision-making process. Using examples from news sources published in 2022, describe the difference between an ‘optimising decision’ and a ‘satisficing decision’? [10 marks]

Question 3

Identify and define the elements of organisational culture. Using examples from news sources published in 2022, describe how any TWO (2) dimensions of organisational culture can be perceived and measured. [10 marks]

Question 4

Define what is meant by the term ‘planning’. Using examples from news sources published in 2022, explain the difference between formal and informal planning. [10 marks]

Question 5

Identify and define the elements of an organisation’s Specific Environment. Using examples from news sources published in 2022, demonstrate how each element of the Specific Environment can impact an organisation’s operations.

Question 6

What is an ‘ethical dilemma’? Using TWO (2) examples from news items published online in 2022, describe TWO (2) causes of ethical dilemmas in the management context. [10 marks]

Question 7

Using examples from news sources published in 2022, identify and define the components of feedforward, concurrent and feedback controls.

SECTION B JOURNAL ARTICLE QUESTIONS (10 marks)

Students must attempt ONE (1) journal article question from the following THREE (3) questions. Section B is worth 10 marks.

Describe what you believe is the most critical element of stakeholder communications for the effective reputation management of episodic events.

Describe ONE (1) strategy you would recommend to increase employee acceptance and ONE (1) strategy you would recommend to decrease employee resistance of robotic technologies in the workplace.
