Introduction Within the health care system, Enrolled Nurses work in a collaborative health care team to ensure that the individual health care needs of their clients are identified, and a plan of holistic care is established early. This starts at the admission of a patient, and continues for as long as they need care. Assessing the physical health status of clients early on can prevent serious complications occurring and can help to identify any specific individual needs that will make treatment, support and hopefully recovery, smoother. This assessment provides an opportunity to demonstrate how knowledge of a patient’s health status, anatomy, physiology and developmental needs can ensure their treatment is appropriate and clientcentred.
Summary This assessment is based on a case study video, which you will view first. You will then review the scenario summary provided. Assessment 1 will require you to respond to a number of short answer questions. The scenario will be based on a client presenting to your healthcare facility with an issue. You will need to consider the health status of the client, what you observe of the client and the information provided in order to understand what is needed to support the client to make informed decisions relating to his care and provide person centred care. In your answers, you should apply an understanding of Nursing Diagnosis, nursing assessments and analytical thinking and assessment.
